hello, i am editing a wedding piece i shot in on DV and am editing it in iMovie. i cannot afford the premier editing packages, so please do not tell me to look there.

my questions have to do with compression. i need to compress a movie for the internet (not just for this project, but for others as well). i am at a loss with all the compression modes that i can export with. could someone please give me a rundown on the best ones, that will give me the best quality with the smallest file sizes.

when i try to export using the web movie format and the e-mail movie format, the text and movie are very small. i want a medium sized movie that will not take up 100Mbs of space. i know this can be done because i have seen videos online that are 2-3 minutes, but only a few Mbs in size.

i also have QT Pro, but those export features are foreign to me as well. is there a site that can give me these answers if they are too taxing for the group to respond to?

thanks for your help.

Get Quicktime 6 and export to MPEG 4. But than you don't have the greatest compatibility. The sorenson Codec is also good (not as good as MPEG 4 though). With the final release of QT 6 you should be able to export directly to MPEG 1 or MPEG 2.
