I've been a net savvy person for quite a while now and I know very well that QuickTime 4 isn't exactly ready for streaming media. Don't get me wrong, I got my first Mac when I was 6 and have been a loyal user ever since. But what I want to know is, if QT is so great then why is my streaming content so crappy? RealPlayer is fine and occasionally drops out, but QT Player drops every 1 minute or 1 1/2 minute. I have a Rev. B iMac. Somebody let me know what is going on. Thanks.

you might try boosting the RAM allocation to QTPlayer...

and QT streaming media uses Akamai's servers, their bandwidth is_supposed_to be sufficient for streaming but i have found that depends on where you are geographically and of course it depends on the speed of your particular connection etc...

i guess i should have said geographically in the internet sense, maybe should say cyber-geographically, i.e., how 'long' is your path (how many routers do you go through, etc) to the 'closest' akamai server, or whatever server you may be using when viewing 'streaming'.

your connection speed is nice enough anyway... did you add more RAM to the QTPlayer app's allocation?

and really, i hold little hope for streaming to be of any_real_quality without a DSL or cable connection. next to speed what do we need? bandwidth.
