If you record [miniDV] with 16-bit audio, does it remain 16-bit audio when you bring it into the cpu?

how many bits is the vcd and/or dvd format?

can you over-dub audio in editting software? does that lower the original audio's bit depth? or does it combine it together when editting, and re-sample it all when doing the final conversion onto various formats [vcd/dvd]?

also, when you transfer video, does the cpu [in .dv format] save them in the original interlaced format? or are they progressive?
