imovie2, burning DVD's

Hello, I have a G4 400mhz, purchased sept. 2000, and iMovie2. I eventually plan on buying Final Cut Pro, but one step at a time. I make wedding videos, so have no need for high end eqipment yet. What I would like to do is take the wedding videos, and offer clients the choice of vhs copies or Dvd copies. How can I do this? Can I: 1. go from imovie to a dvd writer? 2. go from imovie2 to my digital 8 camera, then to a dvd burner? If so, what kind of equipment will I need to get, brands, etc?
Also, I called apple today, and inquired about buying idvd. This is software that would solve all my above mentioned problems, yet it only comes with the new G4's. Apple refused to sell it, and the DVD writer to me. Basically they told me my options came down to this: "Sir, just buy a new G4, it's only $3500, but the only problem with that, is that we may come out with with a new product in 6 months and you'll have to buy a new computer all over again." yeah right, I'm NOT going to spend $7000 a year on new computers. That P.O.'s me about Apple. Crappy customer service and lack of regard for their customer base. This is my 3rd mac, and it may be my last. Apple told me today that they weren't planning on ever releasing idvd as a separate software package. It will only be available if you buy a whole new system. Is there another way to get around Apples new catch-22 software selling scheme. If I have to buy a whole new computer every time I want to get Apple's latest buy one software title, than I may just go PC.
Peace

Just gonna say that Apple said the exact same thing about iMovie.. tho they released it.. and Pioneer, who have made the dvd-burner inside the new G4 are soon to sell it as an external burner.. maybe (probably?) with dvd-video authouring software..

Hi!!
If any of you out there who can not afford the high-end G4 733MHZ with Superdrive, and want to create Video CDs as esay as pressing a button, then the stand alone VideoCD(VCD) recorder is the answer. It costs about $500.
It records video from boardcast TV, DVDs, VCDs, Video tapes, and video camcorders into Video CDs(VCD) by using CD-R/CD-RW discs.
I think this VideoCD Recorder is even better than the Apple's SuperDrive. It doesn't need a computer to operate. So, it is just like a VCR.

Just go to the following, read about it, and buy it if you want.

If you don't want to get a G4 with iDVD, you can buy the Pioneer drive seperately, and use Final Cut Pro (or iMovie 2) to make movies that you can then burn to DVD with Toast 5.

If the G4 you bought today suited your DVD production needs, what need would you have to buy the next shinier faster machine in 6 months?
