I have a bunch of pictures that I ported over from my OS 9 machine to my OS X machine. Here is my problem, the pictures are jpegs, but they don't show up in the finder/snax preview because they don't end in .jpg

So two questions:

1) Is there an easy way to get them to show up in the finder/Snax preview without having to add .jpg to each one's name? If so, pray tell.

2) Is there a program/apple script that will allow me to quickly add .jpg to the name of every file? If so where can I get this app/script? It would save me a lot of time.

Thank you,

O
B unce!

P.S. I am posting this in this forum b/c I recall people having similar problems with mp3 files. But if the mod feels this needs to be moved, go ahead and move it, just let me know where it was moved to.

Is there a way to get Preview to open my JPEG file when I double-click on it? Every time I double-click on a JPEG file now, it always opens an OS 9 application (like PictureViewer) for viewing.

Preview doesn't seem to have a creator code like most apps.

Go to "Get Info" for your .jpg file and change the application that opens it to Preview. There's an option to make this a global change so that all .jpgs' open with Preview. Unfortunately, if you go back to os9 your .jpgs will have blank icons and won't open when double clicked. Damn.
