The systems - G4's (533 dual and 400 single), Igniter cards, 384 RAM, tons of space (SCSI LVD), and FCP 2.0
The Problem - Can't capture logged clips over 4 minutes in length. Message given - "ERROR - disk is too full."
My partner and I have both recreated this problem, logged clips over 4 minutes (give or take a few seconds) cannot be captured using FCP 2.0. Knowing this we can avoid logging over 4 minutes in the future, however, we both have media that is currently offline but is incorporated into sequences that will need to be recaptured. Our problem is that we might need to recapture the entire master clip in order to make appropriate changes for our clients. Some of these clips are over 4 minutes and refuse to recapture. Relogging won't work because then the media won't relink into the sequence that is already cut. Recutting the sequence is an option but as most of you know it is a bitch, especially if the clips are offline and you have no point of reference in front of you except timecode.
We have contacted Igniter and they were not of much help, they seem to believe that unchecking the capture/export size box will solve the problem. Nope, all this should do is allow me to make files as large as I want. Limiting the file size shouldn't stop the capture, it should simply start writing a new file that then links to the first file to create a whole master clip of enormous length.
By the way, the media is low res (1500 k/sec.)
Anyone have any ideas about how to solve this? Seems like a bug in the app.
- On a side note - scrubbing forward and backward (using JKL keys) seems to crash the app quite frequently.
Thanks everyone
