Hi all,

Was just wondering if you could help my with a QT streaming problem. I posted this problem in the OS X software forum, but realized it's probably in the wrong section. Anyways, I can't seem to stream QT from Apple's own website (hot picks, etc.) nor QT streams from NPR (National Public Radio) news and jazz sites. I upgraded my PowerBook to the QT 6 preview via Apple's site and installed some firewalls via Brickhouse (pre-made firewalls for common hacker routes). I'm not sure if those are causing problems, but QT streams work fine for iTunes radio streams and MotorTrend. Which ports do streams usually travel through? Is this a common problem? Can anyone point out any errors I've made without bringing me to tears? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello,

Maybe it's your connection speed.
Go to your system preferences to Quicktime and make sure it's set to your modem speeds.

Did you try going to the connection pane of the quicktime prefs then to Transport setup and press auto configure?

I decided to just change the transport setup to HTML - now it works. My firewall must have been blocking out the ports I needed to stream. Thanks for your suggestions though - I did have to adjust my cable modem speed and autoconfigure once I figured that out. Thanks!
