Anyone know if it's possible to configure Final Cut Pro 1.2.5 for use with an XLR8 InterView? Now THAT would be pretty slick...

let me know,
Mark.

I've gotten the XLR8 Interview to work with Final Cut 1.0, so it should work with 1.2.5. I did this a long time ago, but as I recall, all you had to do was go to the preferences panel and change your video source to XLR8 from the DV setting. I can't give you exact instructions since I did this by combing my XLR8 with a friend's Final Cut Pro, hence I don't have Final Cut Pro myself.

Has anyone gotten analog video in and working with Final Cut Pro, via XLR8 Interview or one of the other rca jack to usb adapters? Especially on a new gigabyte ethernet G4?

The only reason I mention the gigabyte G4's is because I've only recently solved a midi to usb adapter problem that was specific to the latest G4s.

Has anyone tried the Belkin analog video to usb adapter or the Global Village one?

The Belkin device is the same as XLR8's just rebranded. I read a bad review of the GV device, MacAddict gave is a "Blech!"

Thanks Gordy,

Read that MacAddict review, they mostly just hated the bundled software. Why do they put in that crap software and bump up the price? All anyone really wants is the cable. Makes me wonder how hard it would be to make the cable yourself but i guess there's some kinda converting of the signal going on in that little flat black box part of the cable. Then of course you need the driver. Just thinkin' out loud here... if only it were that simple. Ahhh, the smell of Radio Shack and solder guns!
