Flickering Still Images

When I save a frame as a MacIntosh PICT file, then import it for use as a still, the image flickers terribly when I download the movie to tape.

I'm using iMovie and a Sony Digital 8 camcorder.

Incidentally, when I import a .gif file, this problem doesn't occur.

Any suggestions?

Use jpegs instead of picts.
