The white page that is your icon is a genaric icon. First, does the name of the mp3 end w/ .mp3. Second, what mp3 player are you using? To answer your question as you stated it on why when you double click on the mp3 it comes up saying "the application that creatied this file can't be found". All it's telling you is that it doesn't know what program to open the file w/ (your mp3 player). Try launching your mp3 player then opening your mp3 within your player. Use your open option within the mp3 player or drag and drop the mp3 onto the player. If That doesn't work the type and creator needs to be changed on the mp3.

do your other mp3's work?
if so, download a song from another site and try that one.
if they are not but they are all downloaded, import a song and try playing that one.

check creator and type with resedit, type should be MPG2, creator hook.

try using soundApp

go to version tracker, download iTunes associater...
it will change all your mp3s to be iTunes documents...
