I've got a friend who's working on a CD for a company. He needs the CD to be dual platform, and essentially the company wants the CD to launch upon insertion and load up a local html page. I told him the best shot (I think) would be to write an applescript to launch an app and load the page, but I'm not sure how to get the CD automatically run the script

Any Ideas? Can it be done?

thanks
Aaron

Why make an AppleScript auto-run the file, when you can auto-run the file straight off? That's redundant.

In Toast you can specify a file to run at startup. The option is there when you go to burn it (at least it is in Toast 4 Deluxe - by the Bootable checkbox).

He's burning it on windows, so toast isn't an option. Will AS do it? Can we do it?

Sound like something along the lines of a CD business card. Not sure what you can do with low-end stuff, but I think iShell would do it. Granted, that is a pretty hefty deal for just doing one CD. Macromedia Director should also do it, but you would not be able to do cross platform with just one version (need to use a Mac to make a Mac version and a PC to make a PC version) With iShell, you can do it so it is multi-platform.

There may be another way to do this, so if anybody knows of one, please comment.

My workplace (Waterline Media) is getting into the CD business card area now, and we are using iShell.

The address is www.ishell.com, if you want more information.
