Hi there,

i ve a generell problem. I've got a DCR-TR8000E linked via firewire and i want to capture a movie or stills... But in all programs (such as Apples Video Tuner, Premiere 5.1c, or my Line-Test-Animation-App) the quality is LESS! Cruel less! Seems to be, that the Mac is capturing the frames not in Pal or NTSC, but in a resolution of 100x200 dots or so... The qualitity is so poor.
If have tested the DCR on a PowerBook (with Quicktime 4.1.2) and a blue&white G3 (with QT 3.02)...Always the same result! On all masc with all QT with all apps to capture... Whats wrong?!?! (And plaese... don't say: the camera.... Arrrgghhh).
And i have not found any checkboxes or some thing like that, to control the generell picture-size or what ever. I dont know whats want wrong...

Thanx for help,
marlowe.

It's not a bug it's a feature!

Apple reduces the display quality of DV so it has the speed to draw it. It should be capturing the whole thing. Try capturing it, then viewing a frame (stopped) at 100%. It should look fine. Same should occur if you play the movie in Quicktime Player, and if you get info on it you can change it to "high quality" mode which will again display the real thing.

So it shouldn't be anything to worry about.

I'm not sure if this goes away on a high speed G4, given the extra proccessing power available. But it is quite normal on my PBG3.
