I recently bought the Ultra66 IDE RAID card from VST and RAID striped it using the bundled software. It works great for DV editting with FCP.Lagging playback is a thing of the past and you cant beat the price of $179 for RAID. Only one thing though. When I was speccing this card out before i bought it, it claimed it would be able to read at a sustained rate of 35MB with a G3 (I have Blue/White yosemite mac) which technically means that you can playback D1 uncompressed quicktimes in realtime. Was wondering if anyone else has bought this and has got better performance out of the box than me.
