We are a Belgian school with a DV Mac and a sony digital 8 handycam TRV 620 E and are unable to export dv films from iMovie (old version) to our camcorder. We always get the same error message: unable to record to camera. Insert a tape. (translated from french)
The same error occurs with an older sony camera which has been enabled for video in using a widget.
Has anybody got a hint how to resolve our problem?
Thank you for your help

Hi, I found this on Apple support site. Link is below. Quoted verbatim from website.
Due to European Union import restrictions the DV-in feature, or ability to save DV movies to a camera, is disabled on most consumer-level digital video cameras sold in Europe. This feature is only enabled on certain high-level consumer and professional camera models. When this feature is enabled on a camera, it will work fine with iMovie.
While iMovie does have the ability to save out to a digital video camera, it can only do so on camera models that allow this feature to work. It's important to remember that if you are not able to save DV videos to your camera it is a limitation of the camera and not the iMovie application.
You may want to contact the store where you bought your camera, or the camera's manufacturer to determine what steps you can take to record movies from iMovie to your camera.

Try this link as well. It is a discussion about metal particle vs. metal evaporative tape. iMovie can only export to metal particle tape, apparently. good luck.

(Bonne chance)

Allo Francois,
we are in a forum and try to get the best of our Macs thanks to other users but it is a little bit difficult to understand if you use another language apart from English, it would be easier for me to do it in Spanish, but what for my friend?
