After looking carefully at the Canon ZR10, Sony TRV320 and TRV11, I think I've decided I really will use the smaller camera more, and just felt the Sony, although more expensive, will be a better long term purchase. But I am concerned at posts which keep saying how no accessories are included. I will use it with a Mac G4 (and already have imovie2, which is fine for my needs). I know I'll need to purchase a firewire cable. Do I need to purchase other software or hardware to get still pictures from the sony to the Mac (I know stills are not great on this camera, but I still want to be able to use it)? What about a recharger (and which one, if needed), ?extra battery. Anything else to know before purchasing? Thanks!

The TRV11 comes with all kinds of stuff like a remote control (I like the photo button on the remote!), neckstrap, camera to vcr cord (rca), 1 hour battery, lens cap, manual, cord to connect to a pc (cant use w/mac) to extract the digital stills, manual, cd.
Stuff you'll want:
some sort of light if you're doing a lot of video indoors
a usb memory stick reader (to get the photos off the stick on the mac)
a carrying case
maybe another battery or a bigger battery (the biggest one is HUGE, 9 hours!)
a firewire cable
2 months ago I got my trv11 at Sears using a pricematch from
video-direct.com and ended up getting it for a little over $1000 including tax which was a little more than the digital 8 models but the camera is so much lighter and easier to handle than the dig8s that I am very happy with it. HUGE screen and great quality video, the stills are pretty good too although if you do indoors stills, you need a lot of light or some sort of hotshoe flash.

oh one more thing, I'd get a neutral filter to protect your lens. You can get a cheap one ($10) at bhphoto.com in the hard to find 30 mm size.

I second dw on all accounts. I have the TRV 320, (couldn't afford the TRV11) The only real difference is the LCD screen and I primarily use the viewfinder. Card reader is the only way I know how to get stills off Camcorder, although I've heard that you can retrieve them through Firewire (trying it tonight). Word of warning do not purchase the card reader from SonyDirect, as of two weeks ago they were a month backordered but they where still taking orders as if it were still in stock.
Circuit City sells the card reader 5.00 bucks cheaper.. Hey, 5$ is 5$.
