Hey all,
Is there a program out there that will save custom EQ Settings within MP3's which effect any MP3 Players playback of the file? Here's a breakdown of what I know of, but none really have what I want:
Audion 2.6.1: Allows you to save EQ Settings within an MP3, but only from a "Default" list of 10. This is nice, but limited in that the saved EQ Settings effect playback in only Audion 2.6.1 and it really doesn't give the ability to create EQ Settings which bring the most out of a file (Bootleg's, etc.). Also, it seems to choke on files which have any ID3 Tag higher than the ID3v2.0 "Standard".
iTunes 2.0.3: Allows you to save custom EQ Settings, but they only effect the file if it's played through iTunes since iTunes doesn't actually manipulate the file, only the pointer to it (so that it knows what to do with the EQ Settings when you play the track through iTunes 2.0.3).
MP3 Rage 4.1: Does not allow you to manipulate EQ Settings.
Nothing has been "Standardized" as of yet, but there has been an implemintation in place to set Equalization Curves within Frames <http://www.id3.org/id3v2.4.0-frames.txt> (including the latest ID3 Tag "Standard" - ID3v2.4.0). So if anyone knows of a program which takes advantage of writing to this Frame (mMac or PC), would you please let me know? Hell; even if there are, I suppose the Players would have to support reading this Frame.
Thanks and awaiting your thoughts/comments,
