'Camera Disconnected' problems with iMovie 2

I've just installed iMovie2 on my iMacDV (original) and it refuses to recognise my camera (Panasonic NV DS1). It worked fine with iMovie 1 and Edit DV unplugged (which I have uninstalled in case of conflict).

I've downloaded Firewire 2.4 and it makes no difference.

Please Help me - it's really frustrating!!
