Hi,

I'm about to buy a DV camera, probably the SONY DCR-PC110,
to use with my Ti. Has anybody had any experience with this combination ? Is the sony firewire port 100% compatible with
the Mac Firewire or do I need special software to make the transfer work. Also, I often travel to Europe, can I use the camera as well
with PAL TV's and VCR's ?

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks

This camera should be fine with a TI. We have tried alot of different cameras with our Pismo and have had no problems. You will obviously need some software like imovie to capture your clips to your Ti.
all screens are superwide

The DCR PC 100 works great with my Tibook, it is the same with the new PC 110.

You don't need any special software, maybe a USB Memory Stick reader to transfer stills shots from your camera to the Tibook. I think it's better than plug & unplug the USB cord.

In Europe, we use PAL and SECAM (in France). I don't know but I think that the PC 110 bought in the USA is NTSC only. I'm not sure but my PC 100 bought in France is only PAL no NTSC.

Look in the manual, if it's PAL compatible, then there should be no problem. If it's NTSC only you will have troubles, only the newest (and expensive) TVs are NTSC compatible...

My Sony DCR-PC100E (E stands for European - meaning it's input-only) works on both PAL and NTSC format. There's a software-switch build in to arrange this. For connection to a vcr you of course need a s-video>>composite converter.

b.t.w. It even shoots widescreen!!
if there were no Mac
it would be necessary to invent one
