Does anyone know of any minimum firewire HD requirements for use when capturing DV to an external device with iMovie? For example, will a 5400RPM / 11ms seektime firewire drive be enough to prevent any frame-drop? I can't find anything on the Apple support site.

Configuration:
Lime iMac DV w/192MB Ram
Sony DCRTRV720

The "trick" with FW HD's is that the transfer rate stated is usually for FW not for the drives sustained data transfer rate. Asyou know 5400 rpm can have problems with frame rates. I have a Sony GV300 hooked to a VST 30gig slim FW HD. Its worked great!

The key is sustained transfer rate, which has to be > 5MB/s.

I'm using a 5400 rpm drive that manages just above this sustained rate without any problems at all.
