I've seen some people suggest that the next iApp would be an easy-to-use digital audio recording and editing program called iMusic. I suppose that would explain why the MP3 program was called iTunes instead of iMusic. Any thoughts?

iRecord or iVideo = Once MPEG4 is released with QuickTime 6 it would be easy to make a TV video recorder (like a TiVo unit). Do away with your VCR and DVD set top boxes. Make a (naturally well designed) iMovie/iPhoto like application that permits me to copy shows from my TV. It would most likely turn into a lawsuit magnet.

Jobs said the digital hub is complete but there MIGHT be some surprises. Obviously Apple has to watch the market to see what becomes popular on the Windows side. Mp3 players and digital photography became popular so Apple went for that. PDAs are mostly boring so Apple left that to Palm and Pocket PC to fight over.
I think integration with digital TV applications, recording TV, browsing guides and so on would be excellent. Microsoft is doing it and will popularize it and hopefully the Mac will make it all easier and better looking.

I think that Apple is missing two iApps:
1) an instant messenger app
2) internet video conferencing
If QuickTime 6 delivers on MPEG4, then #2 would make for a killer 'net conferencing app.
I get the feeling QuickTime 6 is really gonna rock the world.

Unfortunately, AOL and M$ are fighting over IM standards. I would hate to see apple get in the middle of that mess. I think the VCR type thing would be cool. A conference tool that was REALLY easy to set up would be interesting. Commercials about grandma and kids... I can already see it...

iMusic wouldn't be bad. Make it so it's almost professional. But what would it connect to?

iSee - a televideo conferencing software to allow live images/video/sound from one client to another.
Imagine a playlist, like iTunes only with people who also have the software. Just click "Mom" and if Mom answers, you'll see and hear her.
That would be cool 2 me.

Yea the problem with iMusic is that Apple no longer makes a Mac with line input!!!!! Apple would never make a music application that requires pro hardware. Digidesign makes a free version of pro tools that can do quite a bit, but it won't work with any external hardware, only the sound manager hardware in OS 9, which means at most stereo input. If Apple were to make this application they would definitely not want to deal with pro hardware which is rediculously expensive. It would be nice if Apple were to do this, since it would take them almost no time to create the thing, since OS X supports all the important audio and midi stuff already, writing an app to take advantage of it all would be simple. iPhoto doesn't look like it took Apple too long to do, since it's basically Image capture on steroids, and is Cocoa (a first for Apple). I know theres already a freeware app out there that does multitrack recording. If only Apple were to bring out one of these things, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen since the hardware won't really work with it. I think it's absolutely ridiculous that there are no line-input jacks on Macs anymore. I really wish Apple would see the light here. I'm going to be holding on to my pismo for dear life now, at least until someone can come up with a smaller and cheaper USB audio adapter than what's currently out there.

Why would Apple have to get in the middle of that mess, many video conferencing apps are becoming compatible with each other using the H323 standard, and standards are one of Apples strengths.
Imagine if Apple miss the video conferencing 'boat' like they did when they installed dvd rom instead of cdrw

iPorn...
Some of us need a better, more intuitive way to find, retrieve, archive, and share our pornography
iPhoto can handle most of the work, but I'm looking for a better "content" engine
Later,
Eric.
