I just started looking for a decent miniDV camera and I think I've narrowed it down to Sony's DCR-TRV17.. BUT, I'm worried about a few things:
The LCD screen and the viewfinder's resolution seem rather low. I've found many cameras to have over 200k pixels for the viewfinder and the LCD, this guy only has 184k for the 3.5" LCD and a meager 113k pixels for the viewfinder.. Is there any way I'll be able to pull focus with that low resolution? Or will I have to rely on the auto-focus..? To compare, the squat little DCR-PC9 has 211k pixels on its 2.5" LCD and 180k pixels on its viewfinder..
Also, I haven't been able to figure out if the TRV17 has sound level adjustment.. It does have a mic input and a headphone jack which I like, but if it's all controlled by the on-board AGC then I dunno if that's even worth having. Well it probably is if I get an external directional mic..
And one last thing: does anyone know if this guy's capable of doing pre-set, stop-motion type stuff? Like setting it up somewhere to snap a shot every 10 seconds or whatever.. I thought I read somewhere that some Sony's have this but have since forgotten where.
Btw, if there's any big reason I should forget about getting this camera, don't hold back.. I'm not married to it quite yet. Any additional info or web pages would be a big help as well.
