Since MicroMV records to tape in mpeg2, will that prevent it from importing into iMovie? iMovie is tied to DV as it's working codec, right?

I have a Sony DCR-IP5 microDV camera that I have tried to connect via Firewire to iMovie with no luck. It says: 'Camera Disconnected'. Looking into Apple's documentation, it seems that microDV series is not yet supported.

If someone know how to make it work, please let me know. If not, I'll just have to be patient to wait for Apple to update iMovie then.
