Hey all...hopefully some of you can give me some insight about this. I am having a problem playing one of my DVDs...
First the background info: My machine is a 1999 G4 400MHz (AGP) w/ 320MB RAM and a DVD-RAM(bundled with the machine). The DVD-RAM is region selectable, after I upgraded the firmware. I use Apple DVD Player 2.2. All of my DVDs with the exception of one will play perfectly.
The nature of the problem: I recently purchased Vision of Escaflowne DVD 1 (eps 1-4), released by Bandai Entertainment. I am having trouble playing it with my player. When I insert the disc and press play, it will freeze on the FBI warning screen and not move past that. Pressing "menu" at this point does nothing. Now, if I press stop and then play again, it will begin playing the first episode. It will play the episode all the way through, followed by the credits and the preview for the next episode, and then stop the disc. If I press menu at any point during playback, it will stop. It will not continue playing on to the next episodes.
It seems like this would be a problem with the DVD, so I had a friend play it in both his region 1 DVD player and his region selectable DVD-ROM in his laptop(not a Mac). It worked just fine in both of them.
So, I guess my question is: what is going on here? Has anyone else had problems like this with any of their DVDs? Any suggestions for a fix?
Unfortunlately, I don't own any other DVDs released by Bandai, so I can't check and see if this is a general problem with their DVDs. However, I have no problems w/ DVDs released from Pioneer, ADV, Central Park Media, US Manga Corps, etc.
Any help would be appreciated...thanks.
*Update*
Ok...I got the DVD to display video by pressing return on the FBI warning screen( (also, pressing the "I" in FBI works). Don't ask me why this works....it just does..I now have access to the menus and all episodes. However, there is a catch: no sound. Any ideas on this?
Has anyone had problems like these with any of their DVDs?
