I am having difficulty getting a smooth video capture using the following equipment.
Powerbook Ti/400, 384MB RAM, OS 9.2, iMovie2, FCP 2.0
40gig External Firewire disk
Canon GL-1 and Sony Digital 8

The external disk works fine with a G4/400 desktop with the same video. I have increased the disk cache, slimmed down the extensions, turned VM off and yet I can't avoid dropping frames. I had heard that the firewire port in the original Tibooks is slow. Is that true? What other options do I have?
