This subject comes up every other week I think. Try doing a search on this forum for Real Audio recording.
There's a ton of good info and options.

Ummm.. well i searched for "Real Audio recording", "real video conversion" "real video", "real video converting", and "real video recording". Unless I missed something, the most recent result that had any relevance was from 6-2001. just a couple weeks ago
Anyway, to recap what I got from reading those threads - try Snapz Pro (didn't work for me great the first time... it stuttered a lot and I didn't get the audio - will try in OS 9) or possibly Cleaner 5... which is really expensive.

I'm pretty sure cleaner only writes RM files, and doesn't read them. And considering realplayer isn't even out for OS X, the chances of any advancements in hacking it since 6-2001 are pretty slim.
but I think you will get better results from Snapz Pro in OS 9. I've done some short conversions from Real to quicktime (like 15-30 seconds) and they turned out watchable. better than RealPlayer alone in Classic (without Snapz recording).
On the windows side, search for a program called TINRA (This Isn't Real Anymore -- I don't think any of the developers are native english speakers). This program does basically the same thing as Snapz Pro (just capture the video from RealPlayer's engine and send it to disk), but doesn't bother letting RealPlayer display the video.

For audio, there is a Windows app called ra2wav which does the obvious. It works fine under Virtual PC.

Sorry you didn't get much from the search. Basically, it comes down to this:
On the PC, there is a program called Streambox VCR that records RA streams. The only one I've seen work is on Win 98.
On the Mac all the solutions are in OS 9 - A version of MacAmp used to have a beta version of a RA plug-in that would play RA and the application had a built-in function to record streams. You'd have to track that app down. I don't think it's supported anymore.
There is also a extension called AIFF writer that would divert ALL audio (including beeps and such) to an AIFF file.
I've heard of the Snapz Pro solution but never tried it myself.
On OS X the only apps that will catch streaming audio only capture MP3 streams.
I think that's it
