Hey all. I have read a bit about being able to use QTpro to turn an avi
into a DV movie so iMovie will recognise it. I was wondering if there was a way to do it without buying QTPro? (e.g. shareware app etc?) I'm picking up my combo iMac (my first Mac) on tuesday and am itching to know how to do eveything I want to before I get it Naturally, being a poor student the imac has cleaned me out so a free solution would be better than having to buy QTPro just to change the odd avi to DV

Cheers all,

Al

Do yourself a favour and buy QT pro. It will be one of the best $30 you spend on your imac. As for the avi it may be a little more than QT can handle on it's own right now (depending on the codec). Not to worry though, it all available.
