I am compressing 12 minutes of still images and 30 fps DV in iMovie. Seems to me that no matter what I do, the H263 codec delivers smaller files that Sorenson 3 at the same quality level. Is this normal? Can I expect better results from the Pro SV3 codec due to its VBR encoding capabilities?

yep...thats right.... Sor3 has better quality but at a higher file size. Pro would help you "on the right kind of video".

Forget Pro, just get MediaCleaner.

From my understanding, simply having Cleaner doesn't give you VBR when encoding with Sorenson. You definitely need the Sorenson Developer edition (or maybe it's now called 'Professional') to get VBR, in Cleaner or not.
