Has anyone seen this? http://www.formac.com/html/shopforma...ducts_devideon
Apparently you can burn a DVD with a G3. How is this possible? I thought only a G4 was capable of this feat.

Formac is providing DVD burning software with the burner. It might take forever, but any computer can encode MPEG-2 video, it's just that Apple has invested much time in optimizing their encoders to smoke on G4s.

I read a news release on this drive at Maccentral. The DVD burner has specific hardware so the software will only work with it. An expensive dongle, if you will.

The Formac devideon 'superdrive' is a $600 paperweight. Their proprietary software doesn't work at all, the drive doesn't seem to work with any other software (DVD Studio Pro, Toast Titanium) either, Formac offers NO support, and their return policy is a fraud. If I don't get my money back, I'm going to pursue legal action against them.
