Attempting to watch an AVI on QT I got this unknown-compression-warning and cannot watch the video-track.
It is not this Intel Video issue, since I have all plug-ins installed.
In the Information in QT about the movie it says at file format of the video track: "MP42"
Does anyone have a clue what plug-in I need?
Thanks

have you tried the DivX player? It uses a ripped off version of MPEG4.

I have never heard of this player.
Can you tell me where to download it and why I cannot use Quicktime?
Thanks

MP42 is Micro$oft's half-baked mpeg-4 codec. The best suggestion is to use the mac DivX player (http://mac.divx.st/) with Windblows Media Player version 6.x (NOT 7). The DivX player taps into the WMP code to allow it to use M$'s codec. This should do it. If it doesn't, then give up or use VirtualDub on a PC to convert it to a cross platform format. I see this all the time and it annoys the heck out of me.

you can only download version 7.01 for the mac OS now, and the divx;-) player doesnt work with that version.
