Got a LC 630 Mac 68K OS 8.1 12MB ( 20 or more VM ) ... Would like to make JPegView my default photo viewer. Program I have now ( JADE) keeps grabbing my downloaded attachments and ghanging them to a " Jade Document " usually a PICT . Even if not a PICT , but saved as a " JPeg " various programs , upload sites reject them - saying " must be a JPeg or Gif " . Any ideas ?

I don't think OS 8 uses the file exchange control panel to handle what apps do which files so that means you need to go to the options/preferences of internet explorer or netscape and change the helper file settings. In there, you have to scroll and look for the ".jpg". Select that row, then click on edit. In there, you should be able to choose which app opens and saves that type of file. If OS 8 does have the file exchange ctrl panel, then it's a similar process.
