Anyone know of an App that converts the bit rate of MP3s ?
I'd like to convert any MP3's w/ bitrates over 128kbps to 128kbps. i just want to drop a folder with music on it and it converts the bit rates....or somethign as easy as that.

Thanks.

in the itunes 'convert to mp3' dialogue you can just select all the contents of a folder

what you might try is converting to aif or wav format, then back to mp3 @ 128 bits. if you try to re-rip an mp3 into an mp3 with a different bit rate, you may get weird results. mp3s are compressed, and compressing an already-compressed file can get hairy.

Thanks. i just did it the first way. i got liek 1200 MP3s here, and i wont have time to convert t WAV and then back to MP3, but the cool thing is that so far, ive reduced the HD space by 600-800 MB for my MP3s which is awesome.
There should be an App that you can just drop a folder onto and it makes a duplicate with the desired bitrate MP3(VBR)/WAV/AIFF Files.
Of course it should be G4 Optomized.

SoundJam / iTunes! Seriously, I use SJ all the time to convert MP3s to AIFF for making custom mix CDs. If you're just reducing the bitrate, don't even bother converting to another file type, it's a waste of time.

Personally, I don't know why you'd want to down-sample them unless it was for a portable player with Flash cards... says the guy with a whole 60G drive dedicated to MP3s
