What hardware video capture options are there for Macs right now? I've been having trouble finding non-USB video capture devices lately. I've looked into the Formac DV converter but something a little cheaper would be nice if possible. I'd like to capture stuff from a TiVo or direct from a DirecTV broadcast so preferably I'd need RCA input jacks (output isn't so important because I'd be burning the video to CD-R). Are there any capture cards out right now that can handle the ~400 line DirecTV output as well as capture the stereo sound? I wish the TiVos just had a FW port on their butt so I could just do a direct transfer of the video.

I'm interested, too. I could go for a card or standalone device, I think. I want to turn VHS tapes into VCDs. What do I need to do this? It would be cool to have a TV tuner, too, if that's possible (cable jack input allows you to watch TV on your monitor).
I've seen the MyTV thing, but one review I read was pretty bad.
What are the options? I'm doing some research and maybe I'll be able to answer my own question, but I'd love to hear from people who own these things or know about them. I know nothing about this stuff.
For instance, what minimum specs do I need as far as resolution and framerate go? Do I need QT support? I guess ideally I'd like to edit these with iMovie, too. Do I need a FW interface or will USB do? If I get a card, what rates will I get over PCI?
I'd love to find something under $100, if possible.

Looks like there are two main choices here: ATi's XCLAIM and Eskape Lab's MyTV. Can anyone give me some info on these products? I think I'm leaning towards the XLCLAIM product.

Honestly: Stay away from USB. It will never be fast enough until USB 2.0 becomes a standard. FireWire is the only way to go.
I purchased a Formac Studio with a TV tuner yesterday. Works great, even in OSX. It is treated like any DV cam, so iMovie or FCP can take the stream right in. They even included a TV tuner software package (Classic).
There is also a cheaper alternative from Dazzle called Hollywood. Same principle. There is also a British thing, but I cannot remember the name.
