Hi gang,
I have a Ti Powerbook, which I use for (amongst other things) editing of our home movies. I would love to burn these masterpieces to DVD using iDVD2. It goes without saying that there is not an internal DVD burner available for the Powerbook, but there are external DVD burners that use the same mechanism as the Superdrive that comes with some of the G4 towers. Does anyone know if any of these type of external burners work with the iDVD 2 software?
Cheers!

iDVD2 does NOT support external DVD burners. I am in the same situation as you are. Ti400, Sony DCR-PC110, iMovie + DVD burner as the missing link. Hope that Apple will change that in the future.

Con you confirm that iDVD2 can create DVD images without a DVD burner. Thats what I want to do and then use a bureau to burn the DVD.

I can confirm that iDVD2 only starts up if there is a superdrive present. Has Anybody a fix or a hack. It is unberlievable that I can not use my Ti.

A hack is available on a french web site. http://www.macbidouille.com/niouzcon...001-11-24#1650
In the archive there are 4 patches as 4 different versions of IDVD2 are in circulation.
You have to start into OS 9, open the IDVD pakage and look for IDVD. Then you have to try which patch works (only on copies of Idvd)
The patch will allow iDVD to launch on anything that has a G4 inside. BUT at least in my case - IDVD will not recognize an external drive. BUT again- i emailed the author an he is working on it, but cannot make any promises.

I have the patched iDVD2 on my iBook 2001 and can author, edit, etc - but when I push the burn button it flashes a screen and returns to the main screen. It is my intention to burn the file to a disk image - and after perusing the resources I know that the image option is available in the burn dialog - I just can't get there. Any idea whats going on?
