I recently updated to iTunes 2.0 and now it seems I cannot burn a CD with my Que Fire 12X FireWire CD-RW drive. Though I can burn CDs with Toast 5.0.2, according to the Toast readme:
"NOTE: If you install iTunes or Disc Burner (or update them) after you install Toast Titanium 5.0.2, use Extensions Manager to disable "USB Authoring Support" and "FireWire Authoring Support"."
I should be able to burn with iTunes since I have taken out the USB Authoring Support and FireWire Authoring Support extensions that came with Apple's latest Authoring Support v1.1.3 update.
Can anyone please assist me?
I am running on a Mac PowerBook G3 FireWire with Mac OS 9.1, 30gig hard drive and 1gig of RAM.

I think this might take care of your problem, just don't get any madder if it doesn't please, mr. greek.
Toast and Apple don't work well together, it seems. You need to set up two different extension sets in your extension manager control panel to handle both disk burning applications.
Name the first set "toast" if you like. In this set, disable the Apple FireWire Authoring support, USB Authoring support, and Diskburner extensions. This set is to be selected when you want to use Toast.
Name the second set "Diskburner" if you like. In this set , keep the three Apple extensions enabled, disable three Toast extensions, CD reader, FireWire Authoring support, and USB Authoring support.
Select this set when you want to use Diskburner.
Good luck.

Yeah I'm afraid I may have to do that. I did find that if I put Apple's "FireWire Authoring Support" back in the Extensions folder iTunes would work, but Toast wouldn't. I guess setting up two Extension sets isn't too bad, just inconvenient.
It's just too bad I have to do this as Roxio has stated that both should work together. When I tried to e-mail Roxio for help they said it'd cost me $35 for tech support. Nice support -- not

I use iTunes, (just updated to 2.0), just not DiskBurner. My extension set is like your "toast" set. I keep it that way all the time. I just never use DiskBurner, as I find Toast adequate for my needs.
Toast and iTunes are compatable. Just don't use DiskBurner with the Toast extensions enabled.

I agree. Toast is way better than DiskBurner and I never installed the DiskBurner software anyway. I also found out today that my Mac at work works fine with Toast AND iTunes so I guess I must have an Extension conflict somewhere here at home. Now the fun part begins to try and "find" that problem
