okay, on monday, i was doing some quick edits of some clips for work, exporting them using mpeg 1a and dv ntsc codecs. everything worked fine.
the next day, i was making the same kind of edits, export the clips...only now, the clips i was getting have sound, but just have a white screen. the file sizes are what they should be, so i know it's not just exporting audio. tried different codecs...same white screen with audio.
i think this might also be related to a problem i've been having with my quicktime. for some reason, i can't change my quicktime pro registration number. whenever i go to edit my registration number, i type in my name and number, click okay. then, when i go back and look at my registration, it's not there. i'm baffled. is there some pref i can trash to reset this?
since i can't download QT 5 for OS X to reinstall("it's included with OS X" as apple states

), i used pacifist to extract the pkg from the OS X CD. installed it...no dice. still have the QT Pro 5 registration number problem.
that's my story...if anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to chime in.
