i'm running os9.0.4 and just installed itunes 2 and it works fine however, now when i "borrow" an mp3 off the net using limewire, when it is completed it doesnt show up as a quicktime file. instead it is just a icon of a blank sheet of paper. if i open quicktime and go into file and "open movie" and convert it opens and plays the mp3. however once finished and quicktime is quit. it remains as a sheet of paper on the desktop or in the folder where it is. so what did itunes 2 do? i can still download mpegs and they are fine no problems, just mp3's. thanks for your help

No biggie. "Save as" in QT(self contained). If you want a new file to default to the QT player. The blank paper is just an icon that represents a different default player.

thanks for the info, but how can i change the default player back to quicktime? the mp3's in my music folder still come up as quicktime when double clicked. ... just the newly downloaded mp3's since itunes 2 are generic icons

are you using iTunes as your main mp3 player or quicktime?? (& why would you use quicktime for this??)

first, time to rebuild the desktop (since itunes HAS icons for mp3s...)
you know, hold command-option thru the startup, then click "yes" when it asks if u want to rebuild...

if you're interested, there's a little app called "itunes associater" (get it here that will convert ALL your mp3s (in groups, or singly) it iTunes files.

there are also apps at versiontracker.com that can convert files to other formats (ie quicktime)

hope this helps!
