I figure that you people will be the best way to find out if Apple is going to release any new codecs for Quicktime.

I am running QT Pro 4.02 and I am getting really fed up with the "unable to open movie. Unknown movie formatt" window. I have looked up the formatt and it is the newer MPG4,MPG43, MPG34, or something or other. Does anyone out there have the codecs for the newer compressions, or is there a different program that I can get to run these movies. I already have the Intel Video codecs that are available at Apple's website, but they aren''t the ones that I need. I think that I am SOL, but that remains to be seen.

I have sent Apple several emails over this particular thorn in my side and have never recieved any response. I have looked everywhere that I could possibly think of in the Apple website and have come up with zilc. Could some one out there please tell me what I should do?

you have four Indeo Video codecs on your Mac?

Indeo Video, Indeo Video3, Indeo Video4, and Indeo Video5?

yup. I have all of the Indeo video extensions. That is why I am getting frustrated as to the "missing compressor" messages.

P.S: Did you at any stage install Maczilla?
It screws things up and causes you're browser to download common format files as Maczilla (Creator) files which Quicktime then won't recognise. You could try using Creator Changer on these files to "Make Like" MPEG files that your system can recognise. (Also Quicktime does not/will not recognise/support REAL files at all (even if they're common format)).
