Hello.
I run 6400/200 with os 8.6.
I downloaded with the update software the new QT 4.1.1, and then installed it.
I have tried to launch the CP QT settings, but it made my finder to quit, and I had to reboot. This was repeated several times.
I even tried to redownload and install it once again. No change.
Every time trying to open the CP, --> finder quitting.
I have tried to launch QT player, and the machine freezes.
Any idea, or we have now to wait to a fix from apple.
TIA

same here:

I don't know what's going on. I downloaded 9.0.4, DVD 2.2 and QT 4.1.1 yesterday (in some order I can't remember) and now if I open QT it crashes as a type 1 error. If a web site opens QT - the Browser crashes. If I reinstall with the install update - the installer crashes (same error). If open the QT web site without even running QT the browser crashes. Obviously something is corrupt but can't even get an older copy of QT to load - Any Ideas???

Because QT is deeply linked to the OS when it runs, when it crashes it can be disasterous. You should start your machine with extensions off (Shift at start-up) and manually remove ALL Quicktime files, Player etc and all extensions and prefs from system folder. The (smart)installer only installs what it thinks needs updating or if you don't have it, it doesn't check the integrity of existing files and won't overwrite SAME versions. When everything is well and truly removed (and deleted) download the FULL installer, don't bother with the online installer OR BETTER find a recent magazine cover disk that has 4.0.2 or 4.1.0 on it and reinstall.

I hate to say it but your system file may be damaged which will require an OS re-install unless you have a backed up copy of your system folder.
