hi -

had transfered some dv video but ran out of time to edit. needed the disc space and file was too large to save as data so i burned a dvd using idvd.

is there any way to go back and extract the compressed video file for editing (this is for the web so a few artifacts are ok)? premier and imovie don't recognize the files....is there software out there that will do the conversion?

thanks!

You'll probably need
this program.
Then download this mpeg 2 decoder.

I've found this very helpful, just wondering though... I am able to export dvd video and convert it to quicktime. How do I export audio tracks using dvd extractor.

thanks

dvdextractor will probably give you some .ac3 files. Search www.versiontracker.com for "ac3" to give you some choices for playing/re-encoding these. I use mAC3dec (it will give you some mighty-big aiff files)
