Help! Can I save a corrupted QT file?

I have a QuickTime file that I was recording, when the program crashed. I need to access the information that was already recorded into a QuickTime file. The file will not open using QT player. I get a message that says "Couldn't open the file "xxxxxx" because it is not a file QuickTime understands."

Is there any way to extract the existing data from the QuickTime file so I can use it?
