It's a shitass windows media format. Being as how one of the "benefits" *cough**cough* is "rights management" i doubt there's an easy way to convert it.

and what the hell is a .st file?

Unfortunately I don't think it's possible on a Mac. But if you have access to a PC or a friend with a PC you can decode them to wav files using winamp. If it was encoded using digital rights management you need to strip the DRM from the wma first. You can do that using a program called 'unf*ck'.

Once you have it in .wav format you can use iTunes or Lame or whatever to encode it to mp3.

(Edit: ummm... the bulletin board is editing out the swear in the URL so the link won't work. You'll need to type it in correctly yourself: http://www.xs4all.nl/~hendrik0/WTold...MA-UnCoder.zip
Just replace the * with a 'u'.)

that's not entirely true. You can resample the sound by playing it in Windows Media Player, and using another program to re-record it. I know Snapz Pro is capable, and it has a free trial period. Now, resampling will cause a slight reduction in quality, but since .wma quality is not that great to start with, I don't think it will matter. (Don't just play it out your speaker and record with a microphone; that will definitely reduce the quality)
blackmail is such an ugly word. I prefer extortion. the X makes it sound cool
