I saw a asf to quicktime converter on a hotline once, but it was for winblows.

Try Terran Interactive's Media Cleaner Pro (v. 4.0.2 now). It's the standard app for converting and compressing video. I'm hoping the 4.0.2 update helps my system out though... I was having some problems with a new sorensen codec.
