Problem importing Photoshop image to iMovie 2

In attempting to import a scanned image from Photoshop 2.0 into iMovie 2, I keep getting a message that Photoshop 3.0 is required. What gives? Are Photoshop 2.0 and iMovie 2 incompatible? Do I have to upgrade? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Save your image from Photoshop as a JPEG (other formats may work too) and then import into iMovie. Must be that iMovie only accepts .psd's when they are from Photoshop 3 or greater.
