I've used SoundEdit for many years to edit AIFF files and the like, but can't seem to find anything that will edit MP3 files. I want to do just simple things like take an album that has been encoded in its entirety onto a single MP3 file, and break it up into separate tracks, maybe do some fade-outs. Right now I convert to SoundEdit (AIFF), then convert back to MP3. Is there anything more direct?

Audion 2 can edit mp3s, and it actually uses code from a standalone editor that I forget the name of.
