Does anybody have any reccomendations for a good program for authoring QTVRs? Is Apple's 'Authoring Studio' any good? If so, where can I get it?

In the April 1999 MacHome Magazine several QTVR programs were reviewed. The title was "To the 360th Degree" by Alan Stafford. I chose Apple's QTVR Authoring Studio and have been quite happy with it. At the time I purchased it, it was available bundled (at reduced cost) with the special "stepping" panoramic tripod head available from Kaidan (www.kaidan.com) but there are other tripod accessory companies as well and they may offer software packages too. I think I have seen the QTVR Authoring Studio available in a MacWarehouse catalog without any camera hardware bundled. It takes a bit of time to set up a shoot but this type of photography makes wonderful immersive photo experiences on playback. Works great if you use a digital camera.

QTVRAS rocks! I don't know why there are all these other products, since QTVRAS comes from Apple and they invented QT and all... I used QTVRAS as a sopohomore in High School for an independent study project, and it was extremely easy, but extremely powerful. Get it from the source!

I'll add my vote for QTVRAS but there are things that VRWorx is better and more flexible at. It's certainly worth downloading the demo to try it out.

There are promises of some seriously cool new developments for QTVR in QT4.5, coming soon.

PS - Has anybody tried that Metathingy thingy?

Do you mean the "blob"? It's been a while, but I can fire it up if you have a question. I don't think I actually used that, but maybe I'll remember something, or be able to look it up.

Grr... I guess not then. I think this forum is dying... the DV one is more broad, anyway. maybe when QT 5 comes out in July it'll pick up.

Thanks Dude,

The DV forum is too broad, as a matter of fact it's so broad that it's....actually got bugger all to do with Macs at all!!!

Great clumps of geeky bandwidth clogging futz, I say!
