i am compressing a video in QT pro and it is in the new .mp4 format (extension). i loaded it to my movie section of .Mac, but when i try to select it, the server does not recognize it and in fact i cannot even see it in the movie selector dialog box.
i can see the movie from the finder.
anyone have an idea what i should do. i really like the new format because the files are MUCH smaller.
thanks.

i think if i stick around here, i just might learn something ... thanks for the advice.

but that's good that you bring up this .mp4 thing...curious, i looked at apple's mp4 gallery, and when you click on any of those files, you actually download a file with an .mp4 extension. however, i have quicktime pro, so i did the old 'save as', and it saves it as a .mov.
after it was saved, i changed the .mov to .mp4, and quicktime says it can't read it. but check this out
<a href="http://forums.macnn.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=45;t=007548" target="_blank">http://forums.macnn.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=45;t=007548</a>
regardless of the topic, the first post has a video file link at the bottom, and that file links to a .mp4 file. i downloaded this to my desktop, and lo and behold, quicktime can read it.
my questions is: what's up with the .mp4? do you have to put that in at the time of compressing in order for quicktime to read it? i'll have to try other mp4 compressed movs and change their extension to .mp4 just to test this out.
i'm afraid your one question opened up a whole bag of worms for me!
