QT 4.1.2 syncing problem

Hey All!

I know this one has been beaten to death, yet still seems to rise up.

Sys. Config:
G4, 128MB, OS9.0.4, QT 4.1.2 Pro, DVD

When I either play a normal QuickTime or a VCD, the audio lags behind the video enough to be noticeable, and for a perfectionist, annoying. I thought that updating to QT 4.1.2 would have solved the problem.

Would the new ROM in the recent Ethernet update help, cause new problems, etc?

I'm sorry if I sound like I'm whining, ( 8) ), but has anybody read this post, or have any ideas?

Without knowing exactly what you have in your extensions folder, I'm guessing MacOS sucks up close to 50megs on your machine and you have VM turned ON.

Try giving your system folder a spring clean, use extension manager or better still Conflict Catcher to turn off stuff you don't need. Turn off Speech, Help and so forth. They're just candy.

You should also assign more memory to the QT player (in the QT Folder) like any other application. I have up to 80megs assigned to mine but I do have 256M in the machine!

Summary:

Reduce chunk that MacOS uses
Turn off VM
Assign more memory to QT player
Buy more RAM
oh and defrag your hard-disk(it affects playback aswell as capture)
