To my surprise Quick Time Player refuses to open any of the favorites listed in the favorites menu. It sends a message saying that it can not open the document because it´s not in a QT format. Or it just freezes.
I'm using a Mac, not a PC. Anyone has some explanation?
This happens both with a regular 33.6 modem or with a dual cable modem and in both internet acounts.

i have had this problem as well
it means that you are accessing the internet through a firewall/proxy, set firewall and proxy settings in the quicktime setting control panel

although it may be your ISP's that do not allow the content
