I'm just getting started producing streaming content and I've run into a major stumbling block. MotoDV 1.4 refuses to capture video to a file larger than 2 GB. I've understood that the MacOS HFS+ API (which, among other things, makes <2 GB file sizes possible) needs to be adhered to and that Digital Origins (makers of MotoDV) have not bothered to support these APIs and stuck with older HFS APIs. My problem is that my video will end up as a ~12 GB file. MotoDV refuses to cooperate.

Is this really, really weird or am I missing something here? It's not like video files are rarely larger than 2 GB! What's really puzzling is the fact that MotoDV 1.4 is bundled with Cleaner 5, a relatively new app.

I'm capturing the video from a Sony DV/DVCAM/MiniDV tape deck, which is supported by MotoDV.

It's not a problem with your system, deck or HFS+, but with MotoDV.
You should be able to do a batch capture which will give you several ~2Gb blocks which can then be assembled in the timeline in Premiere.
