Does anyone know how or even if it is possible to watch cable TV or view an S-vdeo source on a Ti Book. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

You could get a USB TV tuner. I know that quite a few vendors sell them. I don't know if you could view an S-Video source, but I'm almost positive there is a PCMCIA card that would allow you to do that.

If you have a DV Camera with Analog input, just connect the analog source to the DV cam and the DV cam to your firewire port. Right? Of course, if you're coming from a Cable box with only coaxial outputs, you'll need something in the chain that converts coax to RCA or S-Video, like a VCR. I haven't seen cable boxes recently. Are there any that have RCA or S-Video jacks?

Most USB video input devices have S-Video inputs. However, their video quality is lousy (not so much the image quality but the framerate). Formac makes a FireWire device which has a TV tuner and all the inputs and outputs you could desire, but it is around $400.

Moving this to Multimedia & DV, since this is not a machine-specific question.

Or you could get the Sony Media Converter or other analog to digital box for $399.

But my DV Cam suggestion was the most likely way to do it if you want to spend as little as possible, and to get the best quality possible. Certainly makes much more sense than the Formac box if you've already got a DV camera, or if you were considering buying one.

Or did anyone actually read my post?
